Hi! I’m Drew. I’m a game developer and researcher interested in how games help us learn, and how the games we play (and build) can learn from us. I’m currently working as a Ph.D candidate in the Center for Educational Informatics at North Carolina State University, I work on developing creatively constrained Level Design tools for educational games under the direction of Dr. Tiffany Barnes. As both a developer and researcher, I’m interested in what I can learn from the things players do, build, and share in the games they play. If you wanna read more about my research, check out drewhicks.com or look me up on Google Scholar.
When I’m NOT doing that, I’m probably designing, playing, or writing about tabletop games. Considering you’re on this blog, you probably knew that, but in case you didn’t, why not check out some of my recent articles or reviews?
